There will always be a long list of reasons not to travel. So, if you’re a budding travel content creator or just a wanderer, we give you all the reasons you should travel.

FYI, where you travel is never the question. It can be anywhere: a city next to your city. A place in your neighbourhood. Or one of the 195 countries that you’ve never heard of.

Adventure may hurt you but monotony will kill you.

5 Reasons to travel the world and become a travel influencer

Every traveller (and travel influencer) has their own motivation to explore the world. If you haven’t found yours yet or just been procrastinating, here are our 6:

1.  Travel will teach you #thngs

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

For years, the only #thng I was consistent with was being late. Travel taught me to be on time. I had to be on time to the airport or train station or fail to catch my ride. The old and overconfident me missed quite a few, and that was lesson enough.

Now, I arrive early and appreciate an espresso or a beer while flipping through a book in my endless TBR pile. This was a lesson travel ingrained in me. For you, it can be a different one. But I promise it’s one of the best reasons to travel.

2. Travel will help you mature and be responsible

Not all those who wander are lost. – J.R.R. Tolkien

When I see travel influencers these days, I wonder how their trips are so perfect. When I started travelling, I did the dumbest #thngs. I forgot a charger in a hotel room. I packed everything but a towel while on a backpacking trip. I left my favourite goggles at a restaurant.

When you’re travelling, you’re in charge of every little detail, and failure to be responsible leads to mishaps. So, if you’re like me, a carefree soul with an insouciant attitude, make this a reason to travel. It’ll help you mature. And it’ll teach you to cross-check everything.

3. You’ll make at least one new friend on every trip

“A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.” – Tim Cahill

Casual banter is not easy, and no one knows that better than an introvert. And that’s the next reason to travel. The experience will hone you on how to chat with strangers. Eventually!

You’ll be hesitant at first but ignore it and dive right in. Gradually you’ll get the drift, so much so, you’ll be making friends out of strangers. And isn’t that what makes a journey more memorable? Besides, the conversations will broaden your mind and perspective!

4. Travel helps you explore the true value of life

Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain. – Jack Kerouac

Most of us live on autopilot. We rarely wonder about the true meaning of life. The clamour of vehicles won’t let you taste the sweetness of a water drop from a waterfall. You won’t get the thrill of riding on hills while stuck in traffic.

I won’t go as far as to say travel is the only way to find your life’s calling. But it comes pretty close. You begin to acknowledge what nature has given us and how beautiful it is. So, break the barrier and let yourself go. Make it a reason to travel and get those damn experiences!

5. Travel is an experience

Travel teaches toleration – Benjamin Disraeli

Nothing, I emphasise, nothing compares to lived experience. And there is no better way to experience new #thngs in life than travel.  If you need only one reason to travel, make it this one. You’ll live through days that just cannot be replicated.

You’ll become conscious of the other side of the world you might never have seen. From other people’s cultures and traditions to different cuisines, there is so much more to explore, and only travel can help you do it.

Last but never least reason to travel

Travelling is the most convenient way to generate content.

And that’s the last reason I give you to start travelling. If you want to be an influencer, travel (even budget travel) gives you tonnes of ideas for blogging.

So, go book that ticket, pack your bags, and travel.
