The metaverse is revolutionising the digital world right now. It blurs the line between real-world and virtual experiences by allowing users to create avatars and actually participate in the internet instead of passively consuming it. That begs the question: what does influencer marketing look like in the metaverse?

The metaverse is this embodied Internet, where instead of looking at the Internet, you’re in it.

The answer is not so different and yet completely brand-new. From NFTs to virtual influencers, there are more opportunities for creators.

So, if you’re an influencer wondering how to use the metaverse, here are a few ways.

1. Virtual reality

Influencers can collaborate with brands to create virtual reality experiences related to products offered by brands. You can either create a whole new experience or integrate the brand’s product into any existing virtual world.

For example, automobile influencers can collaborate with car manufacturers to create a virtual driving experience for their users. Fashion influencers can collaborate with clothing brands and create an experience where users can try clothes virtually.

This will help in reaching a large audience and creating buzz for the products of brands.

2. Augmented reality

For influencers, a great way to use influencer marketing in the metaverse is augmented reality (AR). Video gamers live in virtual worlds, and gaming influencers can capture this audience by collaborating with brands on AR campaigns

Even other influencers can use augmented reality to their advantage. Like Shivesh and Kritika did for the Intel Evo campaign. It’s a fresh take, very different from the usual marketing methods, and builds a great experience for your community.

3. Product placement

Influencers can place a brand’s product in the metaverse. One example is fashion influencers wearing clothes from a brand. Another could be home decor or lifestyle influencers who decorate their virtual homes using their favourite brand.

4. Collaborations

Influencers can collaborate with brands to create content in a metaverse niche that adds value to users’ lives. Lifestyle and fashion influencers can collaborate with clothing or footwear brands to create a series of styling videos.

Avatar designers can reach out to luxury brands to create limited-edition collections. Similarly, automobile influencers can team up with vehicle manufacturing brands to demonstrate the features of a particular product.

5. Giveaways and Contests

Giving free products via contests and giveaways to a few select users is the oldest trick in the book of influencer marketing. Yet, it still remains the most effective one. Influencers can reach out to brands in the metaverse and host giveaways in their space.

They can organise fun contests as well to attract attention and garner more engagement. For example, fashion influencers can create a contest to see who styles their avatar the best using a specific brand.

Influencer marketing in metaverse: is it the future?

Platforms like Meta (earlier Facebook) believe that the metaverse will soon become an important part of everyone’s life. So, it’s only natural that influencer marketing will move towards virtual experiences and augmented realities.

But whether influencer marketing lives solely in the metaverse or not is still up for debate.

Our advice? If the space intrigues you, stay ahead of the game!
